Announcements
- Big Playground News! -- Our community has been working toward buying a new slide for our playground, and instead we're getting an entirely new playground!! We were chosen by a non-profit called KaBoom and the California Volunteers to be part of a Ceasar Chavez playground project. On March 29th we will gather with 300 volunteers to put up a new playground. Stay tuned for details.
- Student of the Month for Pajaro Valley Unified School District
Each year one student from Linscott is chosen as the PVUSD Student of the Month. This year Ian McCaffrey from Lion's Lair receives this honor. Ian is an exceptional 8th grader who represents the positive attributes of a Linscott Charter School student. He is intellectually curious, engages actively in the learning process and is respectful and responsive to those in our community. He will be honored on January 23 at the PVUSD Board of Trustees meeting. Congratulations, Ian
- Environmental
Challenge of the Month:
Last month's environmental challenge will continue in December as students attempt to decrease the amount of waste they produce in their classrooms. There was a high level of enthusiasm for the task and all classrooms expressed a desire to brainstorm ideas and make as big a difference in classroom waste reduction as possible. Some of the strategies they will use are:
- reduce what they use
- reuse whenever possible
- recycle
- compost
We will report on the progress as they try out their plans.
- Fridays are SPIRIT days!!!
Every Friday, show your spirit by wearing purple and/or gold, your Linscott t-shirt or sweatshirt!
- Do you need to download a Middle School dance permission form for your parents to sign? Here it is!

Linscott Community Curriculum
As a member of the Linscott Community, I will strive to be responsible, respectful, resourceful and responsive.
| Responsibility | I am responsible when I am accountable to the community for my choices. |
| Respect | I am respectful when I allow others in the community to make their own choices and decisions. |
| Resourcefulness | I am resourceful when I find solutions to take care of my self and my community. |
| Responsiveness | I am responsive when I react in a positive and helpful way to others in my community. |
Guidelines for Appropriate Dress
Students at Linscott are expected to dress in a manner that is appropriate for a learning environment. The following guidelines are presented to assist students and parents in making responsible, respectful and responsive choices.
- Skirts and shorts must reach the tips of the fingers when arms are held straight along the wearer's side.
- The midriff section must be covered. Shirts, tops, etc. must touch the waistband of the pants or skirt.
- No spaghetti straps. Tank tops should have straps at least two fingers in width.
- Shoes should be reasonable height. No overly high heels or platforms. No flip flops in P.E. class.
- Pants must cover underwear.
- No clothing with inappropriate logos - no advertising for alcohol, drugs, etc.
- Caps, hats, beanies, and hoods may be worn outside, but are not allowed in the classroom.
- Due to Safety Issues, Tennis shoes with 'built in wheels' are not to be worn during school hours. This is becoming dangerous to others and are being misused in the hallway.
